Albuquerque residents Rachel Kennedy, 38, and Mondreon Haywood, 28, were busted last week when a patrol officer driving through the parking lot at Lifetime Fitness in Harrison spotted a maroon Chevrolet Impala that was wanted in connection to multiple break-ins in the past two months.

Police said that the patrol officer attempted to stop the Impala, when Kennedy took off, attempting to evade capture. During the chase, Haywood allegedly was throwing stolen items out of the vehicle, which were later recovered by investigators. The officer eventually stopped Kennedy on the Hutchinson River Parkway and the two were arrested without incident.

Both suspects were charged with criminal mischief, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, all felonies. Kennedy was additionally charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and cited for several violations. Haywood was additionally charged with tampering with physical evidence.

Kennedy and Haywood are due to appear in court at an undisclosed date to answer the charges.
